Hi Milana,
It was a really informative call; the essence that I got from the call was so positive that all the study and training and working on a coaching business will actually move me towards a good living. I am so happy to be making my own information products. If I had to do my first year as a coach over again, it would be to place my effort on my web site and my information products. It is really a no-brainer that this is the route to take for new coaches. I knew it in my gut and the call confirmed it for me. Bravo for putting it together! Lorraine Calhoun, Act2consulting.com
Thanks Milana for putting this compilation together! Great to listen to what everyone sees happening in the coaching industry-also interesting to see how fast Europe is catching up... Yes,niches and specialisation are one way to get credibility, but let’s not forget the powerful alternative that the NON-EXPERT position of a systemic coach holds. I have been serving the corporate market in several countries (Germany, Czech Republic), and am gradually reaching the status of a "go-to" coach in one. In short: there is more to coaching than just expert knowledge. I think it is very important to not forget that expertise is sometimes just that our audience doesn't know what else to expect from coaching, if not expert knowledge...
My years of experience of coaching and coach training facilitation lead me to be very cautious about recommending coaching as a career. Very few make it and most of those already have the net-work to operate in availiable to them before they go into coaching,an extention of what they are already doing.
The main players in this game who are making money are those that are advising and training the coaches. Perhaps this is the only growth area, which makes it a self creating industry.
I think coaching is a short term industry that will eventually be made redundant by some new scheme marketed to the masses as a must have.
You can do all the courses on how to make it work you like and it will still come down to happenchance if you do make a success of it all. Good luck!
Dear Milana,
The call was full of energy and inspiration, a great deal of optimism and clarity. I would like to echo those intentions. I believe in focus, idealism, am a humanist in the deepest sense and believe in the ultimate possibility for all people.
I appreciated the clear message as to the value of marketing and streamlined information systems, as well as a movement toward reaching larger groups of people, particularly leaders more effectively through teleclasses and groups. There is exponential power reflected in these strategies, intrinsically.
That being said, I would like to contribute some projections which I feel echo and deepen the theme of idealism and growth for 2007:
1. An ability for coaches to more clearly and fundamentally discern their niche and core value as they fine-tune their practices and strategies.
2. With this recognition will come greater efficacy, purpose and impact in the work that we do.
3. A deepening of one's availability and humanity once the technology of coaching is "up and running." This will yield a greater sense of fulfillment and lasting value for coaches, our colleagues and those we coach.
All best in the service of coaching and the fulfillment of our highest potential,

I've been coached for a while, coached by several coaches and have come to this conclusion.
People can be happier when they work with someone in whatever capacity they want. If that person is a coach, trained in skills keep you "forward moving" you will fair better.
I think things happen when you work with others that cannot happen on your own. A coach is a professional at being that other.
I think the skills of a coach have been around since humans existed(listen, question), however now is the time for them to formally take hold as a profession.
I think coaching will grow but will still be limited to the challenges of:
A - buildling a practice - the other challenge of being a coach
B - people not understanding what coaching is, so again this is selling it.
If any profession or career is to succeed, who better than goal oreinted, success oriented, responsibility assuming, awareness raising coaches?
Coaching is here to stay and grow ... better be because it's one of my future goals!

Milana -
What a terrific idea! I was so taken by the predictions that I had to blog about it (can I give you a trackback? I didn't see a trackback URL.)
Here are my predictions for coaching in 2007 and beyond:
* Coaching franchises -- Coaches who have a successful business model are going to find a growing market of newer coaches who are looking for more than the "top 7 secrets of successful coaches"; they're looking for a proven, turn-key business system that they can step into.
* Baby Boomers and coaching -- They're not just the 'hot' new target market; we're going to see a surge in baby boomer coaches, too--people who are retiring from their primary careers who want to work for themselves and contribute their expertise and knowledge; coaching is an appealing industry for this group. We're also going to see coaches specializing in areas of concern to baby boomers, like retirement, health/wellness, 2nd careers, and how to create meaning in the 2nd half of life. (Related prediction: We'll see coaching schools and training programs start to target baby boomers, too.)
* Coaching and social networking -- Coaches, like other businesses, are going to feel both the love and the heat from social networking and word of mouth. People are connecting, talking and sharing their experiences (positive and negative) with each other and have easy access to information about other customers' experiences more than ever before, and it's changing the marketplace. The coaches who understand and leverage social networking and word of mouth will have an advantage.
