Who Could Possibly Want "Milana.com?"
About 3 years ago, I bought my domain name "milana.com" from a korean guy for $400. He held it "hostage" for a couple of years, starting with $2,000 and finally realizing that nobody but a business owner actually named Milana would be willing to pay this kind of money.
Well.... maybe he should've waited longer...
Last week, I received an e-mail from someone asking if I am willing to sell the domain. To my question, "Why do you want it?" (I had to ask before giving the "Are you kidding me?" response), he replied:
"Milana" is a hindi (Indian) word meaning "to meet", "to introduce". I'm thinking about creating an Indian Matrimonials website and thought that name would be perfect."
I never knew that "Milana" actually meant something in hindi...
All the korean guy had to do to cash in was wait a couple more years...Oh well.

It's always interesting to see what happens with names and domain names. I usually purchase anything that's similar to what I'm planning to use but it's not always possible to get every single variation, and that means different endings too. I had to wait several years for one I had purchased but because of a slip up was given to someone else back in 1997. It finally came back to me in 2005.

You never know who's out there when it comes to domain names. I thought I'd purchase my own name, just in case, only to find out that it was already taken. I was able to purchase a variant - I added my middle initial and got SusanRMeyer just fine, but now I need to remember to always use my initial to preserve consistency.
So the moral is - buy your own name before someone else does and follow Kathie's advice and scoop up variants.
